01.Love and death 2023
It’s an American mini-series of 6 episodes, written by David Kelley and directed by Clark Johnson and Lesli Linka Glatter. The series stars Elisabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons.
The opening theme “Don’t let me be misunderstood” by Nina Simone, prepares us to enter the atmosphere of the series. It’s based on the true story of Wylie, Texas, housewife Candy Montgomery.
Olsen gives a stunning performance and Plemons is a brilliant actor, perfectly fitting in this very well staged series that depicts the “climate” of the events. There is an escalating tension till the end. We realize that anybody could do anything under particular circumstances ! Enjoy an excellent series!
02. VIGIL. 2023
It’s a British crime-police procedural series of 6 episodes, directed by James Strong and Isabelle Sieb,starring Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie.
After the mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on board HMS VIGIL, detective Amy Silva , is send to investigate.
It’s been a long time we haven’t seen a submarine in a movie. The combination of inside submarine search and search on mainland was well coordinated.A strong direction and an excellent cast keep us on the screen ,although I still wonder how the detective in half a day learnt to find her way and help as well in that huge submarine. Never the less it’s a series worth watching!
